Coventry hoping Lampard stays for next adventure amid Chelsea links

Coventry owner Doug King remains hopeful Frank Lampard will lead the club into their first Premier League season in 25 years as speculation continues to link him with a return to Chelsea.

The former England international has guided the Sky Blues to the Championship title in his first full season in charge but is among the names being spoken about as possible candidates to take the Stamford Bridge job.

Chelsea sacked Liam Rosenior last week, three months into a six-and-a-half-year contract, and are looking for their fifth permanent appointment since owners BlueCo took control four years ago.

Lampard, who scored 211 Blues goals across 13 seasons making him the clubs all-time top scorer, has managed the club twice previously, first between 2019 and 2021 then again as caretaker in 2023.

Following an unsuccessful spell in charge of Everton, he was appointed by Coventry in November 2024 and this season secured promotion back to the top flight for the first time since the club were relegated in 2001.

Of course (I want to keep him), King told The Football Boardroom Podcast. Frank knows how I think of him.

He is a very skilled operator, and he has taken and developed our team to the Championship title with no parachute payments.

Everybody wants what they want, and I will look at the situation, and I hope he will be with us into the next adventure that we have taken in the Premier League, because I think he enjoys working in that environment.

I think he has done a great job and I am sure as we move forward we will have conversations about the situation.

Bellamy remains committed to Wales despite Burnley links

Latest from Your Site News' Geraint Hughes and Dharmesh Sheth:

Reports this afternoon have linked Craig Bellamy with the Burnley head coach role. Your Site News understands Bellamy remains totally committed to Wales and leading them to Euro 2028.

There has been no contact from Burnley as things stand. Your Site News has already reported that Burnley have not yet spoken to any candidates.

Parker only left the job today and Mike Jackson will take the final few games of the season.Bellamy has two years left to run on his Wales contract.

He has previously expressed his desire to lead them at Euro 2028 when the opening game is at Cardiffs Principality Stadium.

Bellamy has always talked about one-day going back into club management although he never set a timescale.

Coventry interested in signing goalkeeper Rushworth on permanent deal

Latest from Your Site News' Elliot Cook and Dharmesh Sheth:

Coventry City are interested in signing goalkeeper Carl Rushworth on a permanent deal.

Your Site News understands the Championship title winners are keen on bringing the 24-year-old to the CBS Arena on a permanent deal after a successful season-long loan.

Other Premier League clubs are interested in signing Rushworth.

It's thought the player is open to a move to Coventry to further develop his career.

The player and his representatives want to be respectful that both clubs, Coventry and Brighton have yet to finish their season so no talks will happen before that point.

Rushworth has a year left on his current contract at Brighton, plus a further 12-month option.

Interest growing in Man Utd forward Jadon Sancho

Latest from Your Site News reporters Dharmesh Sheth and Danyal Khan:

Interest in Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho is growing.

Your Site News has been told an unnamed Italian club has made "initial enquiries" over a move this summer.

As previously reported, Borussia Dortmund has already confirmed they have made contact over a return to the club for Sancho.

Sancho's contract at United is up in the summer and his representatives are free to talk to clubs outside England.

United hold an option to extend his contract for a further year, but it's understood they will not be exercising that option.

Sancho is currently on loan at Aston Villa and is in no rush to make a decision about his future. He wants to assess all his options in the summer and staying in the Premier League has not been ruled out.

Mainoo signs new Man Utd deal

Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new contract with Manchester United until the summer of 2031.

The 21-year-old midfielder's fresh terms better reflect his progression and current status in the first team. Mainoo's previous deal was signed in 2023 when he was still 17.

Director of football Jason Wilcox described the United academy graduate as "one of the most naturally gifted young footballers in the world".

Wilcox added: We are delighted that Kobbie has extended his stay here and have full confidence that he will develop into one of the best players in the world, ready to play a pivotal role in a Manchester United team challenging for the biggest honours.

Mainoo has been restored to a central role under Michael Carrick since he replaced Ruben Amorim, who left the midfielder on the periphery during his short spell at Old Trafford.

The England international had started one game this season, a Carabao Cup third-round match at Grimsby, before Carrick took over from Amorim.

But Mainoo has rediscovered his best form under Carrick, who has started him in all but one game when he was unavailable with a knock.

We can all feel the momentum building inside the club. I am determined to step up and play my role in helping Manchester United to regularly fight for major trophies in the years ahead.

'ManUtd and Arsenal gohead-to-headfor Tonali signature'

Manchester United and Arsenal could be two of the clubs battling it out to sign Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali this summer, according to The Sun.

Both clubs are credited with interest in Tonali, who is widely expected to be among the outgoing Newcastle departures.

Fabrizio Romano reports the Italian will not look to return to Serie A but is instead focused on remaining in England next season.

Newcastle currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League table and are not mathematically safe from relegation with four games to play.

The former AC Milan man cost The Magpies 55m when they signed him in 2023 and is expected to go for around double that fee.
