Justin Rose to debut new McLaren Golf clubs at Cadillac Championship in Miami

Justin Rose does not believe a change of clubs will affect his game as he prepares to debut his new McLaren Golf clubs at the Cadillac Championship in Miami this week.

Rose has signed with the Formula 1 outfit as their first tour pro as they enter the golfing sphere, with the brand's official launch on Wednesday coinciding with the build up to the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday.

The Englishman's switch of clubs could be seen as a gamble, given his strong recent run of form that saw him finish third at The Masters and win the Farmers Insurance Open in January.

Despite that, and the second major of the season, the PGA Championship, being only three weeks away, the 45-year-old does not see his change of clubs being an issue.

"There are some best practices we have put into development which are giving me what I think are a fantastic set of golf clubs," Rose said on Tuesday.

"There is going to be a refinement process [but] in the long term I don't see any issue at all."

He added: "It's something I've been involved with from the outset, really helping the engineering team, really testing the very first editions of the clubs.

"I've been kind of working with the project for well over a year probably, so it's been exciting to finally launch it.

"Obviously it's a great week to do it with the Miami Grand Prix in town, a lot of synergy this week to do it. The clubs are feeling great."

Also competing at the Cadillac Championship is Alex Fitzpatrick, playing in his first PGA Tour event as a full member following his victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with older brother Matt on Sunday.

Fitzpatrick had to cancel his plans to play in the DP World Tour's Turkish Airlines Open this week to instead make his PGA Tour debut.

"It's been pretty wild," said Fitzpatrick, who now has an exemption until the end of the 2028 season and gets to play in next month's PGA Championship.

"The biggest thing for me is to try and enjoy it. This is the first day of school for me, if you want to call it that. I don't have a clue what's going on, I'm not going to lie to you.

"Hopefully, stood on the first tee I'll hit the first fairway and go from there. I have no expectations, especially this week as it is going to be a whirlwind and my head will be everywhere."

Formula 1 returns on May 1-3 with the Miami Grand Prix, the season's second Sprint weekend, live on Your Site F1.

Watch live coverage of the Cadillac Championship on Your Site Golf, starting with the first round from 2pm on Thursday.
