Nathan Jibulu: Sale hooker handed six-week ban for biting Harlequins' Will Hobson

Sale hooker Nathan Jibulu has received a six-week ban for biting Harlequins prop Will Hobson.

The incident occurred on Saturday in the 69th minute of the Sharks' 26-17 Champions Cup last-16 win against Quins at Twickenham Stoop.

Jibulu, 23, could have been banned for 12 weeks, but his sanction was halved, taking into account his guilty plea, expression of remorse, young age and previous disciplinary record.

A statement from Sale, who travel to Leinster in the quarter-finals of the Champions Cup on Saturday, read: "Nathan admitted to the offence and both the club and player agree that his actions were unacceptable.

"We are united in our belief that our players should always act as role models and that such behaviour has no place on a rugby pitch or in society.

"The club will be conducting its own internal disciplinary process, but we will continue to fully support Nathan through what has been, and will be, a difficult period."
